Credits

  • Up to a total of **34 credits** can be recognized for one year. (Minimum 12 credits and maximum 17 credits per semester can be recognized.)

Course registration

  • Before course registration, proceed after consultation with the **department advisor**. (Students do not register for courses at the home university for that semester.)

Registration

  • Exchange students studying abroad must inform their family of the home university’s **tuition payment deadline** to ensure timely payment.
  • They must register within the registration period of the home university.
  • In case of a leave of absence, students must apply for reinstatement on the designated reinstatement date.
  • Failure to register may result in dismissal due to **non-registration**, so caution is advised.

Grades

  • It is the student’s responsibility to prove the content of their study and collect transcripts after studying abroad, and to complete all procedures for credit transfer. The recognition of credits and grade calculation from the host university is decided by the department chair, international education office, academic support team, and the relevant division.
  • Students must request the academic affairs officer at the host university to send the transcript at the end of the term and request the international education officer at Sahmyook University to receive the transcript.
    • If an online transcript is available, the student may request that the transcript be printed by the officer via email, and that transcript is also acceptable.
  • Credits earned at partner universities abroad are counted toward graduation credits but not included in the home university GPA calculation, and grades are recorded as **Pass (P) or Fail (F)** only.
    • Credits and courses with an F grade or no grade received at the host university are not recognized.
  • Earned credits are recognized with department approval for major, double major, and general elective areas.
    • General elective credits are not included in the basic elective area.
  • Courses studied at the host university are substituted for home university courses listed in the curriculum to earn credits. Therefore, students must consult with their **department professors** before applying for courses to avoid problems with credit recognition.
    • If credit hours differ, courses may be divided or combined for recognition. For example, 3 credits earned at the host university may be recognized as two courses of 2 credits and 1 credit respectively.
