Korea Immigration and Integration Program Overview

1. Korea Immigration and Integration Program

  • The Korea Immigration & Integration Program (KIIP) is an educational program designed to help immigrants residing in Korea systematically acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary for adapting to and becoming self-reliant members of Korean society. This includes learning the Korean language, culture, and understanding Korean society.
  • The program is operated by institutions designated by the Minister of Justice. Immigrants who complete the prescribed education receive benefits linked to immigration policies such as residence permits, permanent residency, and nationality grants. This maximizes educational effectiveness and plays a key role in immigrant social integration policy.

2. Participants

  • Legal foreign residents possessing an Alien Registration Card or Residence Report Card and naturalized citizens*, as well as those who have acquired nationality through nationality determination or nationality restoration within the past three years.
*However, naturalized citizens who acquired nationality more than three years ago are excluded.

3. Preliminary assessment

  • New participants take a preliminary assessment to be assigned a course level based on their score.
*Those who wish to start from level 0 do not need to take the preliminary assessment.
  • Participants assigned a level can choose an operating institution of the Social Integration Program and register for courses to take the program.
